Happy National DJ Day ft. Aaron Lane

Whether you realize it or not, who you choose for your DJ is one of the most important decisions you can make for you wedding or event. Having a knowledgeable, involved DJ who can keep your event on track can make all the difference in your guests’ experience. In celebration of National DJ Day, we thought we’d feature one of our favorite Acadiana DJs:

Aaron Lane

We were able to chat a little bit with Aaron about how he got started and why we think he’s the guy you should call when looking for a local Louisiana DJ:

How old were you when you started to DJ?

I started DJing when I was 12 years old. My first paid gig was at age 14. I’ve been professionally performing since age 16.

Wow! So young. This must be in your blood. When did you start to specialize in being a Wedding DJ?

I moved to specializing in weddings in 2000 and went full time in 2010.

You’ve probably seen and heard it all ???? Why do you think it’s important to choose a DJ that has experience with a variety of weddings?

Experience is important because of the unknowns that may happen at a reception. Last minute changes, an unannounced special guest, expecting lots of young attendees and getting lots of old attendees…all these have happened. By working with a DJ that has experience in a wide variety of music styles and a wide variety of wedding styles, you know they’ll be able to pivot at a moment’s notice and keep things flowing smoothly.

Also, the DJ usually does double duty as MC for the evening. Is it really a smart idea to hand over the mic at your wedding to an inexperienced person who may not know what to say (or have the voice to adequately communicate it)?

Good point. Your ability to adapt quickly is one of the reasons we recommend you to everyone. What’s your favorite part of a wedding?

My favorite part of a wedding reception…man, there’s so many! The first dance is always a special moment. I also love it when the food has been eaten, and the guest’s drinks are starting to kick in…you can almost feel the mood of the room shift, and people hit the dancefloor and we get to bump the energy level up a few notches. Lately, my favorite part of the night is after we send the guests outside, and the bride & groom have a private last dance. It’s just them, the photographer and videographer, and me, all alone in that room, and we’re trying to melt into the background so it feels like the couple is totally alone. The love, emotion, intimacy, everything wrapped up in that moment is so intense! Makes my hair stand up!

So romantic! ???? Thanks so much for chatting with us today, Aaron, and Happy National DJ Day!
